This is a Tiberium Slimer tree. It is usally surrounded by a large field of Tiberium slime/mud. This mud heavily slows down mechanical units and humans - while mutated beasts like Hellhounds, Floaters, Viceroids Fiends and lots more can usually navigate on that kind of terrain just fine.
